Image cropping

You can crop an image to a different shape as you bring it into Seidat.

Overview

Cropping is part of uploading an image to the Media bank. Before the upload completes, you get the chance to edit the image, and that's where you choose the crop — including a circular one. An image already sitting in your Media bank keeps the shape it had when it was uploaded. For any other shapes than rectangle or circle, it is recommended to do the cropping in an external software.

Cropping an image as you upload it

1. Start uploading your image to the Media bank.
2. Before clicking the final upload button, use the editing step that appears.
3. Choose the crop you want, including a circular shape.
4. Complete the upload.

The cropped version is what's stored in your Media bank, and it's what appears when you place the image on a slide.

Cropping an image that's already in your Media bank

Images in the Media bank keep the shape they were uploaded with, so changing one means uploading it again.

1. Download the image from the Media bank to your computer.
2. Upload it back into the Media bank.
3. Crop it during the upload, as above.

Important note: the re-uploaded image is a separate item in your Media bank. Slides using the original still show the original, so swap the image on any slide where you want the cropped version.

Shapes and elements

Cropping applies to images. The corners of elements such as shapes and text boxes keep their own form, so a square element stays square regardless of the images placed near it.

If you need a rounded frame around an image, crop the image itself to the shape you want rather than adjusting the element around it.
